Here's fatty with SIX DAYS to go!!!
We've moved into the puppy room now so gamma' can keep an eye on us. :)
Even huge, with our babies, she's beautiful.
Happy Birthday Daddy! My father would have been 75 years old today had he not gone to be with the Lord in 2010.
They're here!!! Six little miracles.
1) 4:33 a.m. GIRL She's got two matching white front feet. Pretty sure she's a daddy ditto. Fawn with a black mask. She has white toes in the back and a double white marking on her chest. She's probably going to be alpha female. She doesn't mess around. She gets right to the chow.
2) 5:40 a.m. GIRL Black right now. She's got a big white tip on her tail and tons of white on her chest and tummy. White knee socks in the front and white feet in the back. Mommy ditto? She's a little bigger than girl #1.
3) 6:56 a.m. BOY Almost all black. He's got white toes all the way around and a long thin white line from his chin to his tummy. If anybody is going to be a long coat it will be this guy but it's way too early to tell. He didn't have the wavy hair on his ears so only time will tell.
4) 8:17 a.m. GIRL Smallest so far but we all know how that can change with time and puppy food. She's also the lightest and will be a fawn for sure. Just like her daddy. Her fawn coloring is more of a grayish color at this point. She's got a tiny white tip on her tail and white toes all the way around.
5) 8:44 a.m. BOY BIG fawn. He's the lightest of all so far. He's got a little white tip on his tail and white toes on all fours. Biggest puppy so far.
6) 9:15 a.m. BOY Black boy. Right front foot has only two white toes. He's got a little white tip on his tail. I think he'll be a brindle like his mama.
I weighed the two biggest boys and I think we hit a new high. One pound, four ounces!!!
< Our first double skunker. We're all used to the single lines on their backs but two?
I can't tell the black ones apart unless I can see their feet and tails. That's why they may not be labeled in some of the photos. It'll get easier as they get lighter and older.
Think we'll nickname these guys after the "Lil' Rascals". They're always good for a smile!
#5 Spanky and #3 Buckwheat are the biggest so far. That doesn't always stay that way.
I'll get some more pictures this weekend. They're all fat and sassy and mama is doing great!
#5 Spanky and #1 Darla both have the double black stripes down their backs. Darla's are already starting to fade. Spanky's aren't. :)
Pretty sure we have three fawns, like Daddy, and probably three brindles. It's too early to tell with the dark kids.
First day in this big new world. Everybody seems happy and healthy.
Miss Crabtree, #2, is definitely a brindle.
Darla doesn't have spots. Her mom's been drooling on her.
These two pictures are of Daddy Grommet when he was first born and his first day.
Farina is actually closest to her daddy's color. A tad darker. Spanky and Darla should be even more blonde. Grommet is kinda' red/fawn as an adult. More orange, which they call red.
Jury's still out on Wheezer and Buckwheat. Probably brindle, could be grandpa Macky's color.
08/27/2012 Babies are three days old.
08/29/2012 Babies are five days old and growing fast!
Towards the end of the week I'll get Pete to hold the babies for better pictures.
Here's what Dad's up to today. Guess his work is done. He hates his picture taken just like his father.
Pretty sure we didn't get any long coats this time. I think we have three brindles and three fawns.
08/31/2012 We're a week old today!
Threw Buckwheat on the scale and he's 2 pounds 3 ounces! At a week! Lard azz!
He seems to be big and lazy. Laid back kinda' guy. The only fuss budgets have been Darla and Miss Crabtree so far. Everybody else seems pretty calm and content.
Already learned to rest her big head on stuff.
09/02/2012 Babies are nine days old. We tried taking pictures with Pete holding them and realized it's too soon. Really wiggle worms!
09/05/2012 Babies are twelve days old. Today we tried puppy slop for the first time. It went over quite well !!!
Everybody LOVES puppy slop. Farina crawled right into the pan. Spanky chowed down and went right to sleep. No sense cleaning yourself up or anything. We'll start de-worming on Friday when they're two weeks old.
Farina, look at her ^ little feet :)
I can't believe they're almost two weeks old already. Sheesh, the time flies. Their eyes are open but I don't think they can see very well yet. They already know people and crawl toward the door when they hear us. I'll make a kissy smack noise when I feed them so they'll get used to coming to that noise. Will help you guys a little with training. Until they catch on, that is. :)
09/07/2012 Babies are two weeks old today! I'll go de-worm them when I'm done here. I'll have a record of that for all your veterinarians. :)
Spanky and Farina were helping each other clean the puppy slop off their noses. Then Miss Crabtree tried to use Farina as a pillow. Farina finally managed to push her off. Buckwheat doesn't care about anything. He just eats and sleeps. Wheezer is starting to look a little fuzzy.
Miss Crabtree stretched out over Farina
Mike's comin' to pick his boy on Monday the 10th!
09/09/2012 Babies are 16 days old today!
We still spend most of our time sleeping and will for quite a few months.
Miss Crabtree was the only one up and exploring.
Course then she has to climb on everybody. She and Spanky have crawled out of the whelping box. I had to add another board already. Makes me feel more secure about putting them outside next week.
New name is Hajime. Means beginning or first.
This guy is going to live with Luis and Laura in Dyer, In. Deposit 09/07/2012
09/11/2012 Babies are 18 days old.
Our first day outside! Big adventure.
Look at that big round bear head!
You can really see the longer coat on Wheezer.
Miss Crabtree and Darla were the first I heard growl. Those two are a little more advanced than the rest of the gang. Naughtier. :) They respond to voices and noises first.
Spanky and Wheezer were the first to start complaining while we were outside today. Sissies.
One of the girls is still available and possibly one of the boys. We just don't know which ones yet.
09/13/2012 Babies will be three weeks old tomorrow.
That's Wheezer sitting in his lunch.
Yesterday Miss Crabtree and Darla were being the monsters. Today, apparently, it's Wheezer turn.
Today we put some toys in the whelping box. They're just starting to become aware of the stuff around them. They mostly wanna' chew on their siblings.
This thing is giving me grief. Must be time to start a new page.
