Welcome to Page #3 of Whiskey n' Grommet's 2015 litter!
Babies are almost 7 1/2 weeks old when this page started.
The giant play pen in the sun. Pete/Iorek (your-eck) is watching Greg/Rumpus in the puppy pool. No water in the pool. Little too chili for that yet. The deck is fenced so they can't get their heads stuck between the rails.
There are about 5 of them in that pile. Bobby/Pup and Sam/Kisume were using Cindy as a fluffy pillow!
Adorable shots of Marsha. Too bad you can't see her.
His new mama said something about his new big sister changing his name. I'll have to check on that. He'll always be "Sam I Am" to me. Precious fuzz ball !!!
Most everybody is leaving this weekend. Except Cindy and Alice. Their brother Bobby/Pup isn't leaving until the 23rd or 24th.
I'll try to get more pictures before then but, it's time for their new people to see, it ain't easy getting puppy pictures!
03/23/2015 Babies were 8 weeks old two days ago.
As you can see, Cindy is a long coat. I don't think she'll have a really long coat but she'll be fluffier. Joe had planned on taking Cindy all along but he decided he wanted his first Akita to meet the standard. I believe they're in the process of classifying the long coats as a breed all their own. We had four out of the eight this litter and seems they were mostly chosen first. Apparently they get bigger and are less aggressive. Our oldest long coats are 4 now I believe, and that does seem to be the trend. For the boys especially.
See, hehe That's Caffery/Kenji out of the "Beers" litter.
This is one of our longest coats. That's Lucian/Ivan and his little sister Diamond/Nadia. Cindy's coat will be more like Kenji's.
I wasn't kiddin', they get BIG!
That giant is Frosty/Mikoto sittin' on his mama. Cindy's coat will probably be just like his in length.
Mikoto is the norm for our long coats. We have only a couple with coats as long as Ivan's.
I'll try to get more pictures in the next day or two. Still really busy with taxes. Alice and Cindy are still available! Sure is quiet around here with only three. :( I miss my little monsters!!!
Bobby/Pup is leaving in a couple days.
03/24/2015 Babies are almost 8 1/2 weeks old.
More snow?!?! They LOVE it!!
After about 15-20 minutes Bobby/Pup, Cindy and I got cold. Not Alice. I had to go chase her down and carry her in. She has the shortest coat too.
< Cindy was more interested in what her mother was doing down in the kennel.
No white > markings on her nose. That's snow.
I'm getting great reports from our new puppy families. Potty training going well. Very little crying at night. So far so good. We'll check again in a couple weeks. :)
This is what she's looking at. :)
Thought I'd get some great pictures with the bright snow. ARGH!
Frustrating, adorable babies and you can't see their faces.
Do I need to keep labeling them?
Alice will be a fawn/red like her parents.
She's a lot like her mama. Little more high energy. Cindy is pretty laid back like her daddy.
I find this rather hilarious. No, I didn't take a picture of
< the bowl.
Where's the puppy? Happens quite often.
Remember this? > Ellie and her Sam/Kisume
Peter/Iorek meeting his new best friend, Damen, for the first time. Just think of the adventures they'll have together. Heart warming! I think Iorek has his work cut out for him. hehehe
More to come. Send us pictures you guys. Maybe when you're not so busy potty training. :)
Cindy and Alice are still available!
Time to go play in the snow!!!
03/29/2015 Babies were 9 weeks old yesterday!
Only my 2 girls are still here. And, available. Everybody else is at their new home. I miss um' but, I gotta' admit, it's A LOT easier with just 2!
They were playing tug-o-war with that raw hide that had been left out in the rain. Soggy, OH FUN!!
Cindy mostly lets Alice have her way. I think Cindy thinks that Alice plays too rough. Alice is more high energy, shall we say, than Cindy. Cindy is a lot more lax.
^ That's what they're looking at. My Suji Moo.
Remember Alice and Peter/Iorek were the ones who didn't want to go out on the deck at first. Took Alice a couple days to build the courage. She's probably not as out going as Cindy. Alice can dance like her daddy. Kinda' naughty. hehe
I do think Alice is gaining confidence. Cindy is more the watch and see. Alice goes and checks it out. :)
I'll call the vet and go get their first shots. They had their first gamma' cookies today. Liver, egg, brown rice, flax seed flour and honey. I think I impressed !
That driftwood sure is some fascinating stuff!!! It's a good chew!
One of the kitties is on the other side of that door. They are good with the cats, unless, the cats try to get away. Then you have to grab hold and hang on.
Kinda' looks like somebody is going to have to be taught to stay down!
< There's Greg/Rumpus at his new home. He looks like such a big boy. Another of the long coats. Be really interesting to see how he turns out. LOVE the red points!!!
Apparently Marsha/Molly isn't having any scary doubts about her new home. I'd say that's pure secure there!
< There's Marsha/Molly, before she left, gettin' luvin's from Dave. He's Sam/Kisume's new daddy.
04/05/2015 Babies were 10 weeks old yesterday!
Guess the mop took it kinda' hard at Greg/Rumpus' house. I fixed the problem by cropping the mop out.
< And, apparently Marsha/Molly took over Dad's favorite lawn chair. I did remind him that he could tell her to get down. :)
Below are Alice and Cindy taken today, Easter Sunday. Both still need their new forever homes.
I let them out on the front part of the deck for some exploration.
They didn't want anything to do with the three steps to earth.
Which is probably good since I don't think I could catch the little monsters if they were freeeeeeee.
Alice is still not willing to jump right into new stuff like Cindy.
Alice kept going back into the familiar part of the deck.
Her coat is getting red and very plush.
^ Closest to the actual color.
Cindy may have a little too much confidence. She lets Alice have her way but she's not a sissy. :) Won't be dog aggressive but doesn't listen very well either. "Just sayin'." hehe
< For example, that was taken right after she did the "I don't want to bow." Know what I'm talkin' about? Front end down, back end up. Usually when they don't want to do something you say or when they wanna' play/argue. Most often followed by sass. She thought I was going to make her go down the steps.
The snow shovels are still out cuz if I put them away it WILL SNOW!
Remember, we could be talkin' over 100 pounds here. :)
04/15/2015 Babies are 11 1/2 weeks old. Sorry for not updating more frequently but I just haven't had time. TAX SEASON IS FINALLY OVER!!! Well, except for a few stragglers and the dozen or so extensions. Now I can concentrate on just my babies. Cindy and Alice are still available. They're getting big and they're just beautiful. Funny, some of my tax clients wanna' take Cindy and some want Alice. It's about 1/2 and 1/2.
See the dog food on the floor? I was TRYING to take a big bag of puppy poo outside and I ran into a freshly opened 50 lb. bag. Or, 47.5 lbs. ALL OVER THE KITCHEN!!! One step forward, three thousand nine hundred and fifty five back!
She's watchin' her daddy.
These shots taken on the 12th.
I let um' in the living room when their dad is outside.
Guess where the kitties are?
Had to giggle. How's that song on "Sesame Street" go? Which three things go together... Two Akitas and a "Kirby" vacuum....
Fighting over their father's rope toy which is pretty much just shreds now.
These were taken on the 13th.
I've heard the big time breeders say that at 12 weeks the pups look like what they'll look like full grown. If you've had the pleasure of watching an Akita grow you've seen some pretty awkward stages. These two look pretty perfect to me. :)
I know, the pictures are crappy, again, still. But, you'll have to admit, you can see all the angles, and, you can see they're havin' fun. :) Cindy is just happy about pretty much everything. She'll be fine if left home alone. She grabs the cow's leg bone, from a neighbor cow :( , and is totally content. Until Alice starts teasing her. Alice will give her a little smack with her front leg and then do the "I don't want to" sassy dance. Which apparently doubles as "Come on! Let's PLAY!!"
Cindy looks bigger but they're still about the same height and weight.
Alice is just a bit apprehensive. She's always stretched out sniffin' around. Makes her look shorter. She'll probably be in the 80 lb. range when she's all done. Average for the standard. Cindy, who knows. I thought she was big at birth, until her brothers were born. She was tiny compared to them. Speaking of;
There's brother Sam/Kisumi. He just had a bath. He doesn't like his crate. His new mom said he's like 32 lbs. already. He likes to hang out under their bed but he's getting too big. Kristine made me laugh out loud when she said, "He'll be too big by Friday."
They grow soooo fast. Right before your eyes, literally, it seems. Ten pounds a month!!! More for the long coats I suppose.
ABRA CADABRA!!! DRY PUPPY!!!
04/23/2015 Babies are 12 1/2 weeks old. Now my excuse isssss, I just got a new computer and I wasn't able to upload the site builder until today.
I have been taking some pictures though. Cindy and Alice are still available.
Took these a couple days ago. They love the deck and being outside but Grandma usually has treats and they'd rather be in with me.
The rest of these I took this morning.
Cindy thinks the pool is the best thing since, the last new thing she discovered!
Brother Greg/Rumpus. His new mama says they love him to pieces. Still have some work to do on the potty training. :)
Here's sister Marsha/Molly. Her new daddy says she's either really good or really naughty? Hmm? hehehe
She was darker than Alice except in the face. Now she looks lighter?
< Just got this today, 04/25/2015. Ears up!!!
05/08/2015 They'll be 15 weeks old tomorrow. My precious babies aren't so little any more. Especially if you compare them to the new babies we just got yesterday! Click here if you wanna' see um'. Meanwhile, Cindy is still available.
I'll get some new pictures in the next couple days.
05/12/2015 Well, Cindy and Alice have found their forever homes. Alice went down to Chicago and Cindy went to live with her littermate Mike/Thorin. Allison told me Cindy's new name but I forgot. It's "Hobbit" like Thorin. The two look like twins and are just gorgeous. I took these shots the day before she left.
She was lovin' it outside in the big kennel with her mama.
Not even four months and she's already almost as wide as mama.
Hope everybody continues to send pictures so we can all watch the babies grow. I miss them.
Cindy went to live with her brother Mike/Thorin. They are AWESOME TOGETHER!!! Her new name is Tauriel. Both names from "Lord of the Rings".
06/14/2015 Babies are about 4 1/2 months old now. I think everybody is mostly potty trained now. Hopefully. :)
My "Brady Bunch" are getting all grown up.
More GORGEOUS babies. Thank you so much for sending pictures you guys!!!
< The white guy is Peter/Iorek with his Shiba buddy Phin.
< Marsha, Marsha, Marsha/Molly. Can't help it. Guess what my best friend, since 5th grade's, name is? Yup, Marsha.
< That looks like naughty mode to me. :) Her new dad is keeping her in check. Pretty much. :)
You can just tell he's got that Long Coat, happy go lucky, attitude. What a handsome man!!! AND, he's got the - gotta' have something in my mouth - thing goin' on. Pure Akita :)
The following are Mike/Thorin and Cindy/Tauriel but I'm not sure which is which. Tauriel is the smaller one. hehe
Akitas dig? Heaven's NO. :)
"That was already like that!"
My guess, Mike/Thorin is the one laying down and Cindy/Tauriel is sitting up???
08/28/2015 Just turned 7 months a couple days ago.
Could put different colored tags on um' you guys??
Look! They do have different tags! Cindy/Tauriel has the pink heart. Awwwwwww
He's quite a bit bigger than she is. And, it looks as though they've grown into their coats. Is that possible? :) Only fluffy around the ears?
"No room for discussion either?"
Gorgeous girl. She's still really dark.
